It can be difficult expressing yourself with whatever emotion you might be feeling. Thanking someone might be one of the most difficult because you might be worried if you’re coming off as insincere or empty.
Today is Thanksgiving day 11/24/11 so I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate this post on the simple concept of thanking someone.
The art of Thank You
First we have to establish who we are thanking, is it our guests or the host. Then we have to figure out what we are thanking them for.
The more specific the better. “Thank you for the great baby shower theme” is not nearly as good as “The Winnie the pooh baby shower theme and that beautiful Tigger diaper cake with the tiger stripped ribbions was the cutest thing ever. Thank you so much Lisa for everything!”
People like to hear their names and they like you to acknowledge specifically what they did for you. They might say “it was nothing at all” but trust me, you should mention their specific deeds and actions when thanking them. Remember that everybody wants to be noticed and we are all heroes in our own life stories.
Is that it for the art of thanking? Well, yes, it is. Speak from your heart, acknowledge there deeds and tell them how their actions made you feel then thank them. It can be as easy as that.
There are a handful of events that most people experience that bring us together, some are good and some are bad but a baby shower is always good so thank everybody involved; the guests and the host. It doesn’t matter if you are expressing your ‘thank you’ verbally or through a baby shower thank you note. Remember these simple rules and use them.
I hope you all have a wonderful day and a great baby shower if you are planning one in the near future. Take care and be well.
