Decorations That Shine

So you’ve decided on a theme and now we have to work out the color pattern. This particular color pattern is red, black and white. The beauty is, you can do so many things with this color scheme. For example, you can easily find a red tablecloth and add round black construction paper dots for that lady bug effect. Now that your table is ready, lets move on to some more fun decorating ideas.

For more pizzazz, you can put potted flowers all around your table for that springtime feeling. Gerbera daisies would do nicely!

You can also decorate your baby shower room with red, black and white streamers. On top of that, you can also add red and black polka-dotted balloons.

You will find that the ladybug color pattern is a popular design in many of your favorite stores so keep a lookout next time you visit your local dollar store, Target and/or Wal-Mart.

Ladybug food ideas:

One popular food idea, or should I say drink idea, is red fruit punch. We all know how to make fruit punch but a great way to add the lady bug theme is by using small black plastic reusable ice cubes. Just let them float in the fruit punch!

Here are some other great food ideas you can try for the ladybug theme that are easy to prepare and fun to eat:

  • small pizzas with black olives and pepperoni toppings
  • strawberries covered in chocolate
  • watermelon slices
  • vegetable spread with red peppers, cherry tomatoes and black olives
  • cupcakes with red frosting chocolate & chips

Cute Diaper Cakes

Your baby shower wouldn’t be complete without the perfect centerpiece. If you’ve ever been to a baby shower then you know that the perfect centerpiece is the diaper cake.

You can get the premade ones or you can make your own by following our simple instructions. You can easily make a three-tier ladybug diaper cake using the video tutorial provided here:

Here’s what you’ll need to make this specific diaper cake, feel free to decorate it any way you’d like with the materials listed below:

  • assorted rubber bands
  • sixty three diapers
  • scissors
  • paper towel tube
  • glue gun
  • 1 1/2 inch satin ribbon with ladybug color patterns
  • polka-dotted baby items for decorations (e.g. baby spoons, bibs, rattles etc…)

Baby Shower Games!

Ladybug trivia game – go online and gather as much information about ladybugs that you can find. Get information about movies, about the actual insect and whatever else applies to this noble and beautiful insect!

Print the questions and format it as a multiple-choice test. Ask your guests the questions. The guest with the most correct answers wins the game.

Jellybean guessing game – fill a big glass jar with both black and red jellybeans. Make sure you count them all and have the exact number written down somewhere. At the baby shower, have each guest guess the number of jelly beans within the glass jar. The person who can guess closest to the actual number without exceeding it wins.

The dancing bug – this is a take on the classic musical chairs game. Put a large red tablecloth on the floor and cut out large black circles out of construction paper. Make sure to deduct one black circle from the group. So if you have nine people playing, then make sure you only have eight black circles.

Your guests must go around the red tablecloth. When the music stops, each guest must be standing on a black circle. The guest who is left without a circle is out. Take out a black circle for every round. The guest who remains is the winner!

Red & Black Favors Your Guests Will Love

You’re going to need some keepsakes, favors and baby shower souvenirs for your guests. You can get beautiful baby shower favors at online stores or you can make your own with these easy to follow tips:

  • Fill cellophane bags with strawberry scented red candles/black candles or small red and black bars of soap. Tie the cellophane bags with red and black ribbons.
  • Fill cellophane bags with red and black licorice, red and black jelly beans, red and black M&Ms etc…, tie the cellophane bags with black or red ribbons.
