Top Three Baby Registry Tips To Follow

Top Three Baby Registry TipsIf you’re an expecting mom or baby shower host, knowing what strategy to use when registering for gifts for your baby shower . . . well, it can be severely overwhelming.

You want to be an excellent mom and/or baby shower host, and the floor salespeople at your favorite big name store sometimes prey on that.

Just because you’re told you should register for this or that doesn’t mean you should. Stop, step back, and take a deep breath. Here are my top three tips for making sure you get what you really need.

Registry Info To Look Out For

One – Register for essential items. I’m talking about things like diapers. It doesn’t matter which kind you are going to use. Both disposable and cloth ones are expensive, and you’re going to need them.

Doesn’t it make sense to get something you can use? It’s not too practical or mundane, and diapers aren’t the only essentials you can register for. A couple of other ideas in this category would be formula and baby wipes.

Two – Don’t register for clothes or toys. You know some people won’t check your registry. They will buy what they think you need. In other words, they’re going to get you clothes and toys.

Not only that, but later down the road everyone else you know who’s done having children will start giving you their baby clothes and toys (in an effort to clean out their houses). No need to register for these items.

Three – Beware of expensive gadgets like baby monitors and automatic rockers. A lot of manufactures are no longer finding a ‘need’ and trying to fill it. Rather they are trying to create a ‘want’ or ‘need’ in you and then sell you something to fill the phantom need.

Apply the acid test. Would you spend your money on it? Think of baby wipe warmers or bottle warmers. If you really need something warmed up, there are simpler ways to do it. (E.g. A bottle—rub it in your hands, hold it under warm water at the sink, or put it in the microwave for a short moment, etc…)

Avoid the useless gadgets that will just take up space. Related to this is the concept of price. It’s natural to assume that something which costs more is better. Sometimes it’s true, but that’s not necessarily the case all the time.

Is a four hundred dollar stroller better than one that costs half as much? Often not. The key is to do research first before shopping. Check out reviews and ratings from others who’ve used the items.

Check out Amazon on anything your curious about to read real reviews from people like you. They have reviews on everything from diaper cakes to strollers. Safety, durability, and ease-of-use are important bits of info that you should look out for when reading these objective reviews.

Easy As One, Two, Three…

Use these tips when compiling a list for your baby shower registry. That way you’ll get what’s best for you and best for your baby on the way.
