Decorating Your Home Like a Jungle
Before you can do anything you first must choose your color pattern. Usually, a baby shower has three colors. For example, if you were having a ladybug baby shower your principle colors would be red, white and black. But for our needs we will use orange, green and brown for our color pattern.
Now that we have our principle color pattern we can think about some easy to implement decorating ideas. One of the big things you will want to fill your house with are potted plants. Bring all the potted plants you have in your house into your designated baby shower area to create that safari motif.
If you don’t have many potted plants ask your neighbors or expected guests if they can provide and/or lend you some greenery. Another option is to have your baby shower outside but I don’t advise it since you cannot predict the weather.
We can now focus our attention on streamers and balloons. Go to your local party store or big box retailer such as Wal-Mart and get yourself orange and brown balloons.
You should also get orange and brown streamers. You’ll want to crisscross your ceiling with your streamers to create that jungle vine effect. As for the balloons, you can scatter them throughout the house 10 to 15 minutes before the guests arrive.
Now that we have taken care of the broad decorating strokes we can now focus on the two main tables and the two main banners.
Baby Shower Table Decor & More
Most baby showers have one main table located towards the entrance of the baby shower to welcome guests and another large table in the actual venue for food and the centerpiece.
If you have two large tablecloths with animal prints on them then you’ve got that part covered.
On the other hand, if you don’t have animal print tablecloths you get two large brown tablecloths for both tables and simply put small potted plants on both tables. You can further decorate your tables by getting some of those inexpensive plastic animal toys that you can get at the dollar store.
Simply place them all around each table to accentuate that jungle safari feel. As for the banners, you can get them premade at Wal-Mart.
You can customize the color and the wording. Place one banner over the guest table and the other one over the main table inside.
The guest table banner should read something like “welcome to Bob and Jill’s jungle safari”, the banner over the main table inside should read something like “don’t feed the monkeys” or “Mowgli and Baloo Welcome you!”
Additional Safari Tip: A great idea is to have the jungle book playing in the background either on your large screen TV or the soundtrack. This will definitely add to both your jungle safari theme and the overall cuteness of your baby shower.
Safari Diaper Cake & Centerpiece Tutorial
The easiest and most straightforward baby shower centerpiece is the diaper cake because it is easy to create, can be fitted to almost any theme and the expecting parents can surely use those diapers. Here is a clear cut way to make a beautiful three tiered diaper cake. I hope you enjoy this video tutorial and the written instructions.
Animal Invitation Themes
A really cute and adorable invitation idea is to scan a picture of the expecting parents at a zoo or any other jungle type environment then put the picture on a greeting card software program.
On the other hand, if you can’t be bothered using your computer just go to your local Office & Supply store and have them print postcards out of the pictures for you. Remember to put all of the invitation information on the back of the postcards and send them out a month before the baby shower.
Feeding the Guests
There are many great ideas that you can use at your baby shower to feed your guests that can be both healthy and delicious. The first thing that comes to mind are fruits and vegetables. This is your chance to go wild with your fruit and vegetable platters.
Remember baby showers are all about finger foods so anything goes as long as it fits the theme. Here are some great finger food savory dish ideas:
- Edamame
- Banana slices
- Apple slices
- Dried banana chips
- Dried mango strips
- Baby carrots
- Mozzarella cheese with tomato, basil and olive oil
- Fried chicken strips
- Beef tips and onion slices
- Shish kebabs
- Deviled eggs
You will also need some sweets at your baby shower. Here’s some great ideas:
- Mini banana splits
- Strawberries dipped in chocolate
- Banana cake and/or cupcakes
- Strawberry shortcake and/or cupcakes
Jungle Favor Ideas
If you have visited this blog before then you know I’m all about cellophane bags as party favors. They are easy to setup and can fit in almost any theme. All you have to do is go to your local party store and get cellophane bags.
You’ll also want to get green and orange twisting ribbons to decorate the cellophane bags with. In my opinion, the best thing to fill your cellophane party favor bag with are animal crackers and mini almond joys.
Your guests will love them and these party favors will also coincide with your overall safari theme.
Animal Jungle Games
You should have no more than three games at safari baby shower. Here are some great baby shower games they you can adjust to this theme:
Everything You Need For Your Safari Expedition
Remember that you can tinker and tweak with any of the ideas above to suit your needs and desires. You can create the best safari baby shower imaginable if you tackle each aspect of it one by one. The way I do it is, I create what I’m good at and I’d buy the rest.
So if you can decorate your house easily and without effort but have troubles making a diaper cake then just buy one. Don’t forget to ask your friends and loved ones to help you out.

I’ve been looking high and low for you, babyshoerstuff.com, ebay, etc,, but no luck. Would a tropical straw hawaiian style table skirt work for you? Those are also pretty cute if used in a safari theme. Best of luck!
What is the name of the sounds for the jungle theme baby shower youtube video.
