Planning a baby shower is a joyous occasion in itself because you (the host) can come up with all sorts of cute themes, games, invitations, baby shower decor pieces and much much more.
But believe it or not, things can go horribly wrong if you don’t plan effectively.
Sometimes what you think is a great idea at the time might not turn out the way you hoped it would resulting in bored guests and a lack luster event.
The good news is that this situation won’t happen to you because you are reading this post and this article is all about what not to do when planning a baby shower!
Where to begin? Lets start at the beginning and work our way down. If you follow this site then you know that we start with our baby shower theme then we establish our color scheme after that, we create our invitations.
It doesn’t stop there because then we have to work on our decorations, games, food ideas, diaper cakes and the list goes on…
Avoid these baby shower pitfalls
Okay guys and gals, this is what not to do:
- Don’t send out your invitations three, two or one week before the baby shower. At least a month in advance!
- Don’t plan everything all at once. Start from your baby shower theme and work from there.
- Don’t stray from your color scheme or baby shower theme. Everything should match and make sense.
- Don’t let the baby’s gender known to anyone if you are planning a gender reveal party.
- Don’t have anymore then four baby shower games. Actually, most baby shower hosts organize only three games max.
- Don’t invite people on a whim. Invite people the expecting couple are okay with and make sure these guests commit/RSVP to the event.
- Don’t lose track of time. Baby showers have a fixed time schedule for games, mingling, gift opening etc.. Stick to the schedule always.
You got that?
Avoiding these baby shower pitfalls will be a cinch if you just follow the tips and pointers in this post. Remember that you should let everything flow into each other; what I mean is start from the top and work your way down.
You will find that if you take care of each baby shower component individually then everything else will fall into place, just like a puzzle.
We would like to hear from you. Please type down your ideas about what you should not do when planning a baby shower in the comments section below. We would really appreciate it. Thank you and have a splendid day!
