Baby shower music ideas

Food, drinks and cake, check!  The decorations and table settings are all set.

All the keepsakes are in place, your tables and chairs are also where they should be.  Your games and prizes are also ready.  There’s only one thing missing.

Music is often forgotten in a baby shower so please add this important component into your to do list. This way, you can remember to select the best music for your upcoming event.

So you’re all set.  You have not forgotten your music.  The problem is that choosing songs for the party is really difficult.  I’ve experienced that too so I will make things easier for you.  Below are some guidelines that have helped me in preparing the music playlist.

  • You can come up with a play-list that you and your guests can all enjoy.  It can be a particular band or genre that you all enjoyed in your youth.
  • If you don’t like a particular band or genre, you can opt for songs of a particular decade.  You can play music that all came from the 70’s or 80’s perhaps.  Or you can play hip hop songs from the 90’s to make your shower fun.
  • If you know the gender of your baby, you can choose songs that refer to the sex of the baby.  If you know that it’s a baby boy, you can play songs like “Blue” by Eiffel 65 and “The Boy Is Mine” by Monica.  If you’re certain that it’s a girl, you can play songs that express feelings or other female themes.  Examples include “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle, “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder and “My Girl” by The Temptations.
  • If you don’t know the baby’s gender or if you don’t want to reveal the gender, you can play unisex songs.  Classical music and standard children songs are usually chosen if this is the case.
  • You can also play songs that have the word “baby” in them.  This is probably the simplest choice.
  • If you want, you can also base your songs on your theme.  If you have a sun-themed baby shower, you can play “A New Day Has Come” by Celine Dion.  The key is to choose any song that depicts the feel or the scenario of the theme.

Music Check!

Your music selections will no longer be a problem if you take the advice above.  I’m sure you will be able to come up with your own great playlist!

I also recommend that you carry around your baby shower songs on your smart phone or on your mp3 player just in case you haven’t decided on a venue. You want to keep your baby shower music handy.

Good day and I hope you have a fantastic baby shower!

  1. our baby shower is a cowboy theme, so we are wanting country songs.
they need to either have the word ‘baby’ in the title or even just the chorus.
    thanks!

  2. I’m hosting a baby shower with a rock and roll theme. Anyone have any ideas on food, games, or decor related to music? Daddy to be is a guiltar player. Nursery is decorated with guitars, drums etc.
