Before I get into this DIY guide, I would like to thank all of you who have contributed to this blog. We got 4,000 new visitors last month. Thank you!
Okay, so back to baby showers and how to do it yourself! There are plenty of ways to set up a baby shower these days.
I can safely say that the concept of a baby shower is evolving. This gives you (the host) a lot of freedom and flexibility when planning your baby shower.
For example, coed baby showers and gender reveal parties are getting more and more popular. Just a few years ago these types of baby showers were unheard of.
These kinds of baby welcoming parties are less expensive to set up and are generally more informal. All you need is a little planning and know-how.

There are many kinds of theme baby showers you could create and plan, here are some examples:
If these types of baby showers don’t suit you and your style then there is always the classic approach: pink baby showers for girls or blue baby showers for boys. Anything you decide on can be done on a tight budget.
Remember that you don’t need a lot of money to create a great baby shower. I figure you can get all the baby shower decorations you need at your local dollar store or Target.
The main point that you should remember is that your decorations should tie-in together with an underlying theme and/or color scheme. Here are some common decorations you might want to have at your baby shower:
- Balloons
- Favors
- Streamers
- Welcome banner
- Decor lights (Xmas lights)
Like I said earlier you need to have all of these elements come together under a common theme or color palette. Once you have your theme in mind then everything else will fall in place.
Whatever the case is, your baby shower should have these elements:
- A color scheme
- A table centerpiece
- Unique baby shower games
- Finger foods
