Baby shower activities serve a variety of purposes in your party. You can have them in place of games.
These activities can keep your guests occupied while waiting for your other guests to arrive. It can even break the ice or get everyone acquainted.
But if you are hosting baby shower games, you can make these activities serve as fillers while you are preparing for the next game. Whatever your purpose is, let the activities in this post amuse you and your guests on that special day.
Having fun baby shower activities is a great way to kick off your party. You can divide the guests into groups or have them all work together. Examples are:
- Book writing – you can buy a blank book and ask each guest to write in it. The content depends on the guest, of course. He or she can put in designs, wishes, or parental advice for the expecting couple. You can even have them write poems or quotes on their pages. Try to have theme for the book, like “the parenting advice book” or “who will my baby look like – mom or dad.”
- Time capsule – request your guests to bring anything that is currently trendy or popular. It can be a poster of a rock band, CD compilation of the biggest hits today, a newspaper, or anything you think represents the baby’s birth year. Place your items inside a decorated box and hand it to the expecting mom. Tell the mom to open the time capsule on the baby’s eighteenth birthday. This way, the baby (who is now a grown man or woman) will know the trend of the year he or she was born.
- Blanky quilting – have each of your guests bring six by six inches of fabric. Let them decorate their fabric by using fabric paint, threads, ribbons, or anything that can beautify their block of cloth. I strongly suggest that you don’t decorate your block with buttons or any small objects as this is a choking hazard for your baby. Have them sign it. Sew all the cloth blocks together by hiring a seamstress or you can do it, if you know how to quilt. Give this blanky to the mom-to-be. Aside from being a keepsake, it makes for a good heirloom.
- Handmade wall hanging – divide your guests into groups and have them design a wall hanging. They can paint on it or even add embellishments. Guests can even base their wall hanging on a certain theme of your choosen. Have the mom-to-be decide which group has the best one. Have the mom-to-be keep the wall hangings. They can be used as decorations for the nursery or displayed as a memento.
Cool Activities For The Individual
If you want activities that are done individually, the following examples are the best to do:
- Onesie designing – you can buy plain onesies and hand them out to each of your guest. Provide them with fabric paint or any ornaments so they can design the onesies. With this activity, your guests can express their creativity. Plus the baby gets to have lots of onesies to wear. Totally cute!
- Well wishers – distribute a small piece of paper, a birthday candle, and a pen to the guests. Have each one write their wish on the paper. After which, let them wrap their wish around the candle and tape it. Collect the candles and place it inside a box. Give this to the expecting mommy. Have the mommy use one candle every year on the kid’s birthday cake.
These are just some of the fun activities that you can do to entertain your guests. If you need more information about throwing and planning baby showers, please look around this site.
